The plan for the seafront promenade is defined between two points, which each have a distinct character: a natural element, in the form of a large dune covered with Mediterranean vegetation, and a pier with a series of structures hosting recreational and commercial activities. Between these two elements, which reconnect the promenade to the city through their perpendicular orientation towards the sea, a linking system develops: a network of pedestrian and cycling paths leading to a series of small pavilions. The relationship between the city and the sea, which is ‘obstructed’ by the massive embankment, is therefore re-established by inserting a series of cuts in this visual and physical barrier and adding user-friendly functions.
