The Augustinian monastery of San Donato still retains its original austere atmosphere; its restoration included a structural consolidation and sought a conservative treatment of the surfaces and a precise reconstruction using the original materials, which were still on the premises. Beginning with a typological reconstruction of the convent, the rooms, stairs and corridors were then organised and distributed. The new services (stairs, kitchen and restrooms) were executed with only strictly necessary and minimal interventions, contrasting with the existing through their use of clearly distinguished materials.
