The renovation of the apartment in the historic Federici palaces in Rome satisfies the client’s request for an informal space consisting of a single large area. The existing walls were removed in order to create an open space, at the centre of which is a service volume. The low block provides a core around which the various functions of the day zone are organised. Thin sliding diaphragms permit the open area to be designed with complete flexibility, leaving the owners the freedom to manage the interior space as they wish.
