In the centre of Rome, a few steps from Campo dei Fiori, came the request for a new and updated image for a café. The owner felt the need to create a locale that would be open throughout the day, providing breakfast for tourists in the morning, meals for workers at lunchtime and the traditional Italian aperitivo in the evening.
A new counter shape is proposed in order to optimise the workspace and the public entrance. The large existing windows will be reopened, offering views of the exterior. The proposal aims to unify these two distinct spaces by utilising a single continuous pavement, as well as through the creation of a covered terrace, which will offer customers a sense of privacy. A wall-sized LED behind the counter provides an illuminated backdrop that changes colour throughout the day.
