The expansion of the polytechnic school in Brasschaat has two distinct goals: to provide classrooms for the children and a refectory for the entire school. The dual program results in two buildings, which are united under a single roof. The roof utilises a single pitch as a way of introducing a traditional and recognisable form into the modern campus. This also serves to reduce the building height in the inner courtyard, creating a more intimate atmosphere that is more suitably scaled to the children.
