The competition programme requires to expand and renovate the former city hall as the new department of social services. The main difficulty lies in the spatial and functional integration of our intervention and the existing buildings: the stylistically different architectural structures on site have had a decisive influence on the project, whose composition choices aimed at a correct integration of the new building in the pre-existing context. The functional challenge lies in combining and reusing a building which spontaneously developed on several levels and a complex system of services and cross-connections. At the same time, a public square has been created to rearrange the exterior spaces by including paths, entrances and the adjoining park.
